Safety is a priority. I have been certified in CPR since 2009. I continue to review and expand my knowledge of first aid and water safety with each year.
Swimming requires putting your face and head in the water. While even infants are capable of holding their breath, aspiration is still a risk. I encourage my small clients to explore the water while watching carefully to make sure they are using their breath with comfort and control.

It’s always amazing to see what kids can accomplish on their own. At the same time they are flexing their new skills, I remind them that swimming is safe and fun because of the rules and not in spite of them. We walk on pool decks because running can cause us to slip and fall. We always ask permission to enter the water and make sure a parent or guardian is on deck or in the water.
