How lessons work

My lesson format is to provide a firm foundation in floating and controlled breathing, followed by streamlining, correct kicking and arm strokes, in the that order. Small children will learn to swim with a flutter kick and will learn both a paddling and breaststroke style arm strokes. With a correct body posture and ability to breathe when needed, children will quickly progress to recognizable freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

Swim Seasons

Lessons run through two seasons. The summer season is from Memorial Day, when most neighborhood pools are open, through the first two weeks of September, when most pool close. During this season, I generally travel to my clients and teach in their neighborhood pools.

I offer the option of splitting a lesson between families. If you have one child and your neighbor has one child, you can book one hour and I will teach both children one at a time. One person must be responsible for booking the lesson. Payment can be made directly to me by both parties, but booking party is responsible for payment for the full if the other party fails to show.

During the Winter Season I rent lanes and my clients travel to me. This runs from October through April. I teach at all the City of Raleigh indoor pools by appointment. Since lane rentals go quickly, it’s important to book early. Check the map below to see which pool is closest to you.

Lessons are one hour during the Summer Season, in the comfort of your neighborhood pool. I require one hour minimum per pool, per session. For example, if you want lessons for your children, you will need to book one hour. I can split the lesson between 2 children. I generally teach one at a time so I can focus on that child’s development.
